Dangerous Moves In The New Cold War

Just two weeks after diplomatic overtures gave some optimism to John and Steve, the recently announced plans by the U.S. to quadruple its military presence on the Russian border have left our experts as concerned as they've been at any time in the two years that they've held these weekly discussions.

In case you missed it... A few days ago, there was terrible news out of Washington. In order to counter "Russian aggression", the U.S. Department of "Defense" announced a 4X increase in the component of the military budget designated to "defend" the Baltic States. Part of this $3.4B will be used to create a fully-equipped combat brigade that will rotate around the Baltics. Alarmingly this, for the first time, places U.S. combat forces directly on the Russian border. Recall that at no time during the prior Cold War did U.S. forces advance any farther east than Berlin.

Again, the stated rationale behind these moves is to counter "Russian aggression". But which side is being the "aggressor" here? One could easily argue that it is the U.S. and NATO, not Russia. Additional bad news this week comes from reports that both the U.S. and Russia are seeking to "update their nuclear forces" in the first moves to develop and maintain new nuclear weapons since the 1980s. Ugh.

Please take the time to listen and fully consider what is discussed here and then be sure to check back each and every Wednesday for updates. John and Steve have been providing this invaluable service for over two years now. Sadly, with no end in sight to The New Cold War, we must hope that they have no plans to stop. These weekly discussions are a must listen for all those concerned about the geo-political consequences of The End of The Great Keynesian Experiment.
