The more things change ...

Thy rulers are rogues, and cronies of thieves; every one loveth bribes, and followeth after rewards: they hear not the orphan, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

Cronies of thieves? Check.

Lovers of bribes & rewards? Check.

Don't care about regular folks? Check.

What happens next? Well, in Isaiah's time, his people were almost annihilated by the Babylonians.
