Opportunity to see the International Space Station pass through the Big Dipper on evening of June 26 2012 in Riverside CAL
Using a calculator and a website run called Heaven's Above, it turns out that the International Space Station appears to brighter than almost any other pass seen in over a year tomorrow night June 26, 2012.
It also turns out that the vehicle will be flying through or almost through the Big Dipper for anyone in the Inland Empire.
If you live in Los Angeles, you will see the ISS as a bright steady star rising out of the north west at around 8:59 PM.
Go out a few minutes earlier so your eyes adjust.
If you live in the Riverside/San Bernardino area, you will see the ISS fly right by the end of the Big Dipper and right up the handle.
If I could get in position with a good digital timelapse camera, I would set up a great photograph of the Big Dipper and the station flying through it.
Unfortunately, prior commitments preclude me from getting in position.
In the case one of the gang can get into position, you can get a tripod, digital camera with very high Megapixels, and focus in on the Big Dipper. If you are in the Inland Empire, you are in the optimal location to snap the shot of the manmade shooting star passing through one of the best known constellations in the Northern Hemisphere.
