Regional Trade

Long story short, I have a European vacation planned with the girlfriend coming up this Summer and will be in and out of some smaller cities/villages in Italy. I was hoping to do some bartering using silver and gold but wasn't sure if there was one type more valued than another, i.e. philharmonics, eagles, maple leafs, etc. I travel a decent amount, so if anyone would like to contribute anything from their neck of the woods, it would be much appreciated.
