With the Net Stable Funding Requirements of Basel3 due to start kicking in by late June, I thought is was time to check in with Alasdair again as knows the ins-and-outs of the London markets and LBMA better than just about anyone.
So this call deals entirely with this subject. On June 28, the NSFR rules kick in for the European Banks and then, as of January 1, 2022, the rules will apply to the UK and LBMA, too. Will the imposition of these rules force an epochal change to the London markets and, in turn, the entire unallocated digital derivative and fractional reserve pricing scheme? Alasdair seems to think so.
Here are some background links that you'll want to review. The first two are Alasdair's latest commentary on the issue and the third is the LBMA's last attempt at whining their way off the hook.
